it can’t be a first season episode of Columbo if the director doesn’t get to go De Palma-level berserk for at least one scene

A perfect example of the ratio that defines any good Columbo episode: the more obnoxious the killer, the more spectacular Columbo’s takedown of them needs to be. Not sure any other “one more thing” in the show’s history comes close to this one.
